KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry recorded 22,030 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday, a slight drop of 505 cases from 25,353 reported on Sunday.

Out of the new figure, 394 were imported cases. There are currently 308,942 active cases nationwide.

Yesterday also saw 92 deaths and 33,872 recoveries, making the cumulative death toll stand at 33,899 cases so far since the beginning of the pandemic.

At present, there are 8,400 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 387 are in intensive care.

The states that recorded more than 2,000 new infections yesterday are Selangor (6,793), Kuala Lumpur (2,837),  Kedah (2,662), Penang (2,375) and Johor (2,312).

States with cases ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 are Negri Sembilan (1,838), Sarawak (1,583), Pahang (1,496), Kelantan (1,394), Perak (1,379), Terengganu (1,148), and Sabah (1,023).

The few states that recorded fewer than 1,000 new cases are Melaka (677), Perlis (192), Putrajaya (169) and Labuan (133).

Malaysia also recorded two new clusters, with one high-risk group cluster known as the Jalan Yew 2 cluster in Kuala Lumpur, with six cases identified so far.

While the other education cluster, known as the Batu 16 Jalan Ipoh cluster, recorded 29 cases at present. – The Vibes, March 15, 2022
