KUALA LUMPUR – Starting March 28 until April 8, some 8.6 million individuals will receive the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) phase 1 financial aid.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today said they would receive between RM100 and RM300 each, depending on their eligibility.

He said the recipients include 4 million households, 1.2 million senior citizens (who are single or without a spouse) and 3.4 million other single individuals.

“Each recipient will receive payment in stages from March 28, with a total allocation of RM2 billion.

“It is also to ease the financial burden of the people, especially in preparing for the coming Ramadan,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said aid for households, senior citizens and single individuals would be credited to their bank accounts.

For individuals without bank accounts, cash aid would be disbursed from March 30 through Bank Simpanan Nasional.

“Any appeals can be submitted within a month from May 2.”

This is to ensure that those eligible from the targeted groups would benefit from the BKM programme.

“This is to reconsider rejected applications by allowing applicants to submit an appeal with the necessary documents to be verified by the Inland Revenue Board,” said Ismail Sabri, adding that the BKM is a government initiative announced in the 2022 Budget to assist the B40 group.

BKM approval status could be checked on the BKM website from March 28. – The Vibes, March 20, 2022
