KUALA LUMPUR – Some 17 pots of cannabis plants and a brick weighing 214g belonging to a former nasyid singer and composer have been seized from a Kota Damansara condominium yesterday.
The 47-year-old suspect was arrested at the unit at 5.30pm yesterday, said Petaling Jaya OCPD Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.
He added that the cannabis brick valued at RM10,700 was found in a plastic container in the kitchen cabinet. Other items seized are gardening tools, pesticides, thermometer, various lights and ventilation tools.
“The police also seized a Toyota Wish belonging to the suspect and cash amounting to RM40,700. The seized items amounted to RM61,600 and the suspect has been remanded for seven days starting today.”
Fakhrudin said the suspect tested positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and that initial investigations found that the former singer had the plants for personal use.
“Three pots of cannabis plants were found in a cupboard next to the kitchen.
“Police also found 13 pots with cannabis plants in a room and a vase on the balcony,” he said at a press conference at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters today.
“We are still investigating where the suspect got the seeds from. It is believed that the suspect is addicted for 10 years and learnt how to plant the trees via social media.”
The case is investigated under Section 39B and 6B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – The Vibes, March 25, 2022
