KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 24,154 Covid-19 recovery cases were recorded yesterday, which is higher than the number of new cases detected for the day, which was 15,215 cases, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

This brings the number of recovery cases recorded in the country to 3,920,643 so far, he added.

Of the new cases recorded yesterday, he said, 906 cases were admitted to hospital, with 348 of them, or 38.4%, in category three, four and five, while 558 cases or 61.6% were in category one and two.

On the use of health facilities, especially involving Covid-19 cases, the DG said three states recorded usage of more than 50% of intensive care unit beds, with Putrajaya at 67%, Selangor (53%) and Kuala Lumpur (50%).

None of the states recorded more than 50% bed usage at the low risk quarantine and treatment centres, he added.

He said the number of Covid-19 patients in need of ventilator support increased to 176 patients.

According to the DG, two new clusters have been identified bringing the total number of active clusters to 214.

On the infectivity rate or Rt value, he said, it was 0.89 nationwide, with Selangor still recording the highest rate of 1.05 and Sabah the lowest at 0.66. – Bernama, March 30, 2022
