KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has logged a slight increase in daily Covid-19 cases with 15,941 as of midnight, compared to the 15,215 caseload the day before.
According to CovidNow data, this brings the cumulative total to 4,183,359 while another 33 deaths were reported, of which 11 are classified as brought-in-dead.
Majority of the new infections are recorded in the Klang Valley with 9,159 cases – Selangor (7,748) and Kuala Lumpur (1,411).
This is followed by Sarawak (974), Kedah (827), Perak (783), Johor (778), Negri Sembilan (765), Penang (684), Pahang (487), Terengganu (383), Melaka (331), Sabah (313) and Kelantan (297).
Three states recorded fewer than 100 cases – Putrajaya (66), Labuan (61) and Perlis (33).
Meanwhile, the country recorded one new cluster – Jalan Parit Mahang 2 high-risk group cluster – in Kuala Selangor with 42 cases and a positivity rate of 72.4%.
As for the new deaths, Johor and Kedah have six each, followed by Kuala Lumpur and Perak with four cases each, while Sarawak and Pahang with three cases each.
Penang and Selangor recorded two cases each, while Sabah, Kelantan and Negri Sembilan recorded one case each.
Active cases now stand at 206,591, of which 200,962 are under home quarantine, 4,664 patients in hospitals and 690 are in low-risk treatment and quarantine centres. Some 168 are aided by ventilators, while 107 patients are under intensive care.
The Health Ministry has reported that 1,323,892 children aged five to 11 years have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine under the national immunisation programme as of yesterday.
A total of 2,851,056 adolescents have been fully vaccinated, while 2,947,622 have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Some 15,758,429 adults have gotten their booster shots and 22,952,209 individuals have completed the vaccination, while 23,228,125 have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Yesterday, a total of 51,867 doses of the vaccine were administered, with 4,949 as first dose, 1,438 as second dose and 45,480 in booster doses, bringing the cumulative number of vaccine doses dispensed under the national programme to 68,849,462. – The Vibes, March 31, 2022
