KUALA LUMPUR – Court documents showed that the embattled MySJ Sdn Bhd’s chief executive officer designate and chief business officer is Aiza Azreen Ahmad, who was once Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation’s (MDEC) chief digital business officer.

It was revealed in an email submitted with the affidavit in a suit Hasrat Budi Sdn Bhd (a shareholder of MySJ) filed against MySJ, Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Revolusi Asia Sdn Bhd, and MySJ directors Raveenderen Ramamoothie, Anuar Rozhan, and Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin.

Aiza had sent an email to MySJ directors on February 21 where she signed off as “chief business officer/chief executive officer (designate)”. Checks on Aiza’s LinkedIn account found that she has been holding the position since January.

Before her role in MySJ, Aiza was working for MDEC between March and December last year, during which she was tasked to drive the corporation’s business development and operations.

In 2020, Aiza helmed Pertama Digital Bhd, a company with an interest in fintech and govtech.

Prior to that, she was appointed SME Bank’s group chief strategy officer and Bank Rakyat’s chief strategy and transformation officer.

Aiza is not the only individual in MySJ with previous ties to MDEC. According to court documents, Nora Junita Hussaini has been serving as MySJ’s chief financial officer since February.

She had served as MDEC’s chief financial officer from January last year.

She also holds independent non-executive director positions at PayNet and Agrow Builders Sdn Bhd.

MDEC has been reported to be a part of the government’s steering committee negotiating with MySJ over the MySejahtera’s service subscription terms.

Previously, Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd (formerly KPISoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd) offered its services to develop a national contact tracing app amid the Covid-19 pandemic as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had said the deal to transfer the app’s intellectual property and software licence between its original developer Entomo Malaysia and MySJ is unrelated to the government’s latest negotiation.

He chairs the steering committee to negotiate with the company that manages the MySejahtera app.

The steering committee will have representatives from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, the National Cyber Security Agency, the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit and MDEC. – The Vibes, April 7, 2022
