[UPDATED] M’sia’s daily Covid-19 toll falls to four digits at over 8,000 cases

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 caseload has finally dipped below the five-figure mark to 8,112 after 10 weeks – bringing the cumulative total to 4,325,818.

According to the CovidNow portal, the country also recorded 12 deaths, of which four are brought-in-dead cases.

Klang Valley continues to log the most daily infections, with Selangor having 4,299 and Kuala Lumpur with 708 cases.

This is followed by Negri Sembilan (490), Perak (465), Johor (404), Penang (355), Kedah (257), Melaka (225), Pahang (193),Sarawak (224), Terengganu (211), Sabah (124), Kelantan (98), Perlis (26), Labuan (22), and Putrajaya (11).

No new clusters were recorded as of midnight.

Meanwhile, active cases stand at 145,798, of which 142,513 are under home quarantine, 2,811 hospitalised and 300 in low-risk treatment and quarantine centres. Some 110 patients are assisted by ventilators, while 64 are under intensive care.

In a statement issued by Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the majority of the latest caseload are in Categories One (3,772) and Two (4,284). 

In addition, there are 29 cases in Category Three, 10 under Category Four, and the remaining 17 infections are Category Five.

As for the national ICU capacity rate, Putrajaya recorded 100% bed usage and Selangor logged 53% while the rest of the states are below the 50% threshold. – The Vibes, April 11, 2022
