KUALA LUMPUR – New daily Covid-19 cases in the country have remained below 10,000 for three consecutive days with 9,002 cases reported yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 4,342,559.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today that a total of 8,112 new cases were reported on Sunday followed by 7,739 cases on Monday.
Of the total new cases recorded yesterday, he said 67 cases or 0.74% were in categories three, four, and five.
He said 394 Covid-19 cases were admitted to the hospital yesterday of which 162 cases were in categories three, four, and five, while the remaining 232 cases were in categories one and two.
The number of recoveries yesterday also exceeded the number of new cases when 16,986 recovered cases were reported, bringing the cumulative total to 4,180,763.
On the usage of health facilities dedicated for Covid-19 cases, Dr Noor Hisham said only two states registered Covid-19 critical or intensive care unit bed occupancy of over 50%, namely Putrajaya at 100% and Selangor at 51%.
No state recorded occupancy of more than 50% at Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centres.
The national Covid-19 infectivity rate or Rt value yesterday was 0.84, with Selangor still registering the highest at 0.93 and Kelantan the lowest at 0.63, he added. – Bernama, April 13, 2022
