KOTA KINABALU – Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Apdal told former ally Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his party Bersatu to forget about working together to face the general election (GE15).
This came after talks of Muhyiddin approaching his former allies to garner support ahead of GE15.
“What we are seeing today, the political instability in Malaysia has been the result of the Sheraton Move. Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has indeed indicated to my officers that he wanted to meet me.
“But as I was in Sabah at the time, he texted me and called. He expressed his reasons and told me that he had also talked to (PKR president) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, that he plans to do something.
“I told him it’s all right and that he should leave me out of it. I had told Tan Sri to forget about me. I am not going to be involved in a situation that could disrupt the political stability in Malaysia,” said the Semporna MP during a ceremony in his constituency.
The Sheraton Move in 2020 saw the elected Pakatan Harapan (PH) government lose power following a series of party crossovers.
Muhyiddin took Bersatu out of PH and formed the Perikatan Nasional government.
Shafie said political instability brought by the Sheraton Move has not only damaged national unity, but also affected investor confidence.
However, he did not dismiss the possibility of working again with PH in GE15 but reiterated that he needs to strengthen Warisan before getting a smart partnership.
The Vibes recently reported that there would be no second chances for Muhyiddin to work with PH and Warisan. – The Vibes, April 14, 2022
