KUALA LUMPUR – The police have arrested a 16-year-old girl suspected to be the culprit in a recent attack on a 63-year-old e-hailing car driver at 4.55 pm in a business premise opposite Maybank in Jinjang, here today.

Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said in a press statement that the assault had occurred on April 13 at around 2.55am at Jalan Kovir Hilir off Jalan Ipoh, in the nation’s capital.

The victim had first picked up the girl as a passenger at Sagil Tangkak Johor through the MyCar application.

“Upon reaching their destination at Kovir Hilir Jalan Ipoh, the victim informed the suspect of the price that they agreed upon, which was RM400.

“However, the suspect refused to pay because she did not have any money and the victim made the decision to send the suspect to a police station for further action.

“Out of fear, the suspect had slashed the victim’s neck with a pen knife before running away,” said Beh, adding that the suspect had left behind the blade in the victim’s car.

The victim then drove to the Sentul police station seeking assistance and he was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital by an ambulance for treatment.

The suspect had no previous criminal records. The authorities also seized a handphone owned by the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

Upon conviction, it provides for imprisonment for up to three years, a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments. – The Vibes, April 16, 2022
