KUALA LUMPUR – Police in Kajang have opened an investigation into the death of an 11-month-old baby who fell unconscious at the home of a babysitter yesterday.

Kajang police chief ACP Mohd Zaid Hassan said the babysitter has been called in for questioning after the district police headquarters received a report on the incident.

He said the report was filed by a medical officer from Serdang Hospital who was brought from the babysitter’s house in the Kajang district.

“A statement from the babysitter has been taken and the investigations are still underway to determine the cause of death of the child,” Zaid said in a statement.

He said a post-mortem has been conducted by the Serdang Hospital Forensics Unit, and that the results were currently “Pending Laboratory Analysis”.

Zaid also said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, but no arrests have been made so far.
