KUALA LUMPUR – Two individuals were arrested in Kg Baru yesterday in connection with the dumping of a male fetus at a petrol kiosk toilet in Setapak on Tuesday.
Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the man and woman, both aged 27, were arrested in the vicinity of Tunku Azizah Hospital in Jalan Raja Muda Aziz here at midnight.
“Both suspects are being remanded for three days while the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code, which is punishable with a maximum jail term of two years, a fine, or both,” he said in a statement.
“One of the suspects was receiving treatment at the hospital for acute bleeding.”
Section 318 of the Penal Code relates to the concealment of birth by disposing of a dead body.
Police have yet to clarify the relationship of the two suspects.
On Tuesday afternoon, police were alerted to the discovery of the male fetus by members of the public who found the remains in a petrol station toilet in Danau Kota.
Ashari had said the fetus is estimated to have been around six to eight months old when it was found dumped inside the toilet bowl, and that the remains were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic unit for an autopsy. – The Vibes, May 12, 2022
