MIRI – Some 29 pupils escaped unhurt when their hostel in SK Orang Kaya Muda Pakeri, Sarikei caught fire this morning.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that the affected block had housed 12 boys and 17 girls.
“All of them are unhurt in the fire incident.”
The fire was put out by 10am while an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
The Tg Manis station received an alert on the fire at 7.30am and a team was deployed to the hostel, which was some 40km away.
“There were voluntary firefighters who helped put out the fire. The school has a total of more than 100 students, including boarders. No one was injured,” added the Fire Department. – The Vibes, May 19, 2022
