KUALA LUMPUR – Lamborghini Owners Malaysia (LOM) members are gearing up to hit the streets once again as they attempt to surpass the current record of the largest number of Lamborghinis at an event.
Nine years ago, 77 supercars had gathered here in the city to commemorate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary and had earned a spot in the Malaysian Book of Records for the most Lamborghinis at an event.
This time around, the supercar enthusiasts are hoping to trump the achievement, hoping to see at least 90 supercar drivers assemble with their vehicles at KLCC’s open-air car park in front of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on June 11 from 10.30am.
After the record has officially been trumped, the group will then travel to the Chateau in Bukit Tinggi, where the Bulls Ball gala dinner will be held for approximately 200 guests.
Speaking at a press conference today to announce the attempt, LOM president Datuk Roslan Rosdi said that the club will be honouring the underprivileged by donating a sizable contribution to several charities.
“Our goal is to raise a minimum of RM40,000 from our members and partners,” he said, adding that during the many drives organised by the club over the years, he has made it a point to engage with local orphanages to expose children to the intricacies of a Lamborghini.
“The experience of sitting in a Lamborghini is a memory that will motivate you to be better, and I want to spark that kind of fire in less fortunate children,” he said.
Meanwhile, the group’s organising committee chairman Datuk Rakesh Sachdev assured that there will be a support team on hand to ensure that safety measures are adopted and employed when required throughout the drive event.
He added that while the record in 2013 had been set with the aid of Singaporean Lamborghini owners as well, the upcoming event will only feature Malaysian drivers and their supercars.
“The biggest challenge so far for the attempt has been aligning the timing of Lamborghini owners who are all captains of various industries. Our members, however, are more than happy to gather for a good cause,” he said.
Also in attendance at the briefing today was Italian ambassador to Malaysia Massimo Rustico, who said that he is impressed to see how enthusiastic Malaysians are with the supercar brand while expressing his pride in the club’s achievements.
Fans of the House of the Raging Bull are also invited to view and appreciate vintage and rare variants, as well as the latest Lamborghini supercar such as the Lamborghini Gallardo MLE, Huracan Spyder, Urus SUV and Aventador SVJ, all of which are expected to make an appearance during the gathering. – The Vibes, May 19, 2022
