KUALA LUMPUR – Fashion designer Datuk Jovian Mandagie has been called out by social media users after he was seen in Japan with his father-in-law Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Bera MP was invited to Japan to receive an honorary doctorate from Nihon University.

Jovian was spotted during Ismail Sabri’s meeting with Itabashi Mayor Takeshi Sakamoto yesterday during his maiden working visit to Japan, in a picture that was uploaded on Bernama’s Twitter account.

Netizens were quick to question Jovian’s function and capacity during the prime minister’s official visit.

Some said the fashion designer was present as the prime minister’s personal stylist.

Others questioned who footed the bill for the prime minister’s family member joining the visit.

Whatever the case may be, the public is urged not to jump to conclusions. As a successful entrepreneur, Jovian certainly has his own funds to dip into and not rely on public coffers.

Here’s hoping for a safe return for the prime minister and his entire entourage. – Getaran, May 25, 2022
