SANDAKAN – A supposed meeting with a man’s prospective mother-in-law went awry when he allegedly slit her throat after a heated argument yesterday in the Taman Sentosa apartment here.

In the 5.50pm incident, police said the 59-year-old Indonesian housewife died at the scene, while her 25-year-old daughter, who was also present, has minor injuries on her arm.

The 31-year-old suspect had been dating the 25-year-old, said Sandakan district police chief Abdul Fuad Malek.

The suspect later surrendered himself at the Sandakan police station, where he was arrested and is currently under remand.

Fuad said the man is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Police will not be releasing photos of the victim. – The Vibes, May 29, 2022
