KUALA LUMPUR – The government has not issued any payment involving the MySejahtera application, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said in a press conference today that the Health Ministry has obtained approval from the Attorney-General’s Chambers to initiate price negotiations.
This comes after intense scrutiny after the Public Accounts Committee last Thursday raised concerns over the sale of the mobile application to the private sector.
Last April 27, Khairy said the decision to sign a contract with MySJ Sdn Bhd and Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd over ownership of the MySejahtera app was not subject to PAC’s findings.
He added that the decision lies with his ministry and its evaluation of the contract, as well as whether the ministry’s requirements were met.
This is after the PAC had earlier this month conducted separate sessions with Khairy and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz on the government’s decisions and procurements concerning the conception of the MySejahtera contact-tracing app.

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh had requested permission from Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun to allow lawmakers one day to debate its report on the acquisition of the MySejahtera app.
Wong had also urged the government to take its recommendations as well as the debate among lawmakers into account before making decisions with financial implications on the development of the app.
In March, the PAC revealed in a report discrepancies in the ownership status of MySejahtera, sparking a public outcry over data privacy concerns. – The Vibes, June 21, 2022
