KUALA LUMPUR – The 19-year-old Muay Thai exponent who was reported missing yesterday after a routine jog in Taman Rimba Kiara here is now home with his family in Kedah, confirmed the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department in a brief message today.
“For your information, the person did not go missing from Bukit Kiara as reported by callers. He is now in Kedah with his family members, according to police,” it said.
Muhammad Fazril Rashid’s sister said he had return to the family home and expressed her gratitude to members of the public who joined the night search yesterday and shared information of his disappearance.
“While he was jogging, he heard faint whispers telling him to go up Bukit Kiara, causing him to feel disturbed and confused… so, he decided to head to the nearest mosque.
“He had a very bad headache and immediately fell asleep at the mosque,” she posted on Facebook under the name Farah Wahida today.
However, she did not explain how Fazril made his way to Kedah.
Speaking to The Vibes, local runner Foo Sheek Hian said he was part of the search for the teenager yesterday after hearing about Fazril’s disappearance.
Deciding to take part in the search and rescue attempt as he was familiar with the Bukit Kiara grounds, Foo said he started at 7.45pm and called it a day at 10pm after he was unable to locate Fazril.
“I was alone throughout my search. When I informed the security guards of my reason for being there, they said they were unaware of the case. I went to a few spots along the trail as I was worried Fazril might have fainted somewhere.”
He added that he had encountered two police officers as he was leaving the area who told him that the boy had not yet been found.
“I’m glad to hear that he is safe now.”
Yesterday, The Vibes reported that Fazril’s coach, John Faizol, had lodged a police report at 11pm last night after the teenager was last seen at about 6.30am.
“He told me he had bad dreams and wished to drink water from up a hill, which I told him that he should not.
“I told him not to go into the jungle as he might get lost. I’m worried that there might be mystical elements that might be involved.
He also described Fazril as a “fit” athlete who is a very disciplined and committed individual, and has been training with him for one and a half years. – The Vibes, August 10, 2022
