KUALA LUMPUR – Despite lambasting the press for allegedly presenting his statements in an unfair manner, counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah was unable to provide justification for the statement he made yesterday.

Yesterday, Shafee rudely brushed off reporters, refusing to speak to them and alleging that the media “twist and turn our statements”.

Today, he told The Vibes that there were “many things” that made him believe so.

When pressed further for an example of such behaviour, Shafee merely replied: “You see the newspapers nowadays, and the sites.”

He provided no further elaboration.

Shafee was met by The Vibes at the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur court complex as he left following the adjournment of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia Development Bhd audit tampering report case.

In this case, Najib is charged with abusing his position as prime minister and finance minister to order amendments in February 2016 to the auditor-general’s audit report on 1MDB before its finalisation and presentation to the Public Accounts Committee to avoid any civil or criminal action against him.
