BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that the Budget 2023 which will be re-tabled next month, will meet the needs of every layer of society.

The budget’s details are still being fine-tuned but the prime minister who is also the finance minister assured that his administration will not sideline any community group.

“It’s not ready yet (Budget 2023), that’s the issue. Sarawak is asking for (allocation), Sabah is also asking for (allocation).

“Under my administration, the M40 group will not be marginalised. Of course, those in the B40 (group) are also as important, but we will also pay attention to M40,” he said at a press conference at the end of a two-day visit to Brunei at the Empire Hotel here, today.

Present with him were Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The Budget 2023 will be retabled in the Dewan Rakyat on February 24, following a change in government administration after the 15th General Election (GE15) on November 19, last year.

Anwar was previously reported to have said his administration would not be bound by what was presented by the previous government in October last year.

However, he said, the recommendations made in the previous budget plan will still be taken into account under the new Budget 2023 figures.

Three weeks will be allocated for the entire process in the Dewan Rayat for the tabling, debate and voting of the spending plan.

The Dewan Rakyat will commence its sittings on February 13 for 29 days. – The Vibes, January 25, 2023
