KUALA KANGSAR – Journalists in Perak covering the political crisis and the subsequent swearing-in ceremony of Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad here today were graced with the presence of Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

The ruler wanted to greet the media personally and spoke to them at Dewan Jubli Perak for about 15 to 20 minutes, before granting his consent for a photography session with the press.

After the group photography, a few reporters and photographers joyfully took the opportunity for a rare one-on-one photo session with the popular Ruler that has been dubbed as the “people’s Sultan”.

Earlier, in his address during the swearing-in ceremony, Sultan Nazrin had voiced his appreciation to the journalists covering the crisis.

“I truly appreciate the media practitioners who were camping outside of Istana Kinta under the hot sun and also being soaked by rain, who had performed their duties with commitment and reported and published news responsibly for the public who were following the developments (of the crisis),” said Sultan Nazrin.

In the same sentence, he also thanked the police officers tasked to ensure that those entering and leaving the palace did so in an orderly fashion without too much disruption to traffic flow.
