KUALA LUMPUR – Fresh from taking his first victory this season at the San Marino Grand Prix (GP) in Italy last week, Petronas Sprinta Racing rider John McPhee is eager to maintain his good performance at the Misano World Circuit for this weekend’s Emilia Romagna GP.

The 26-year old Briton said that he was delighted with the recent victory and hope to emulate his winning momentum for the next race.

“With this next round of the championship also at Misano, we go into the event with a lot of confidence of having another strong result,” he said in the statement issued by the team, today.

“Of course, I gave myself a lot of work to do in the qualifying, so I’ll be aiming for a better starting position this time! Let’s just wait and see what happens, but I’m excited to be going racing again, “added McPhee, who currently sits third in the Moto3 World Championship standings with 92 points.

Meanwhile, his teammate, Khairul Idham Pawi, hopes to continue making progress since making his return to track after undergoing a finger operation last month.

Despite experiencing some pain due to the operation, the 21-year-old Malaysian rider was able to improve his lap times each session at the San Marino GP.

“I had some difficulties getting used to the bike again but I improved with every session, and I just need to ride more to get the feeling back, “he said.

“It is good to be at the same circuit again, as I know where I can improve here. Hopefully I will be better and we can have a good race,” said Khairul.

Khairul is looking to break the duck as he is still yet to score a single point in the first seven races.

The Emilia Romagna GP started with the free practice session yesterday, followed by the qualifying session today, before the race proper tomorrow. – Bernama, September 19, 2020
