LEMBAGA Tabung Haji (TH) has announced a profit distribution of 3.25% for the financial year 2024, marking the highest payout in seven years since 2018. The total distribution amounts to RM2.92 billion, benefiting over 9.54 million TH depositors.

At a press conference today, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar attributed the successful profit distribution to the governance of the TH Board, the efficiency of the management team, and the commitment of its staff.

"Through excellent service, we have managed to ensure the comfort and well-being of our depositors and Malaysian pilgrims," he said.

Expressing gratitude to Allah SWT, Mohd Na’im shared that the 3.25% profit distribution was made after a zakat payment of 2.5775%, further noting that this payout represents a significant achievement for TH in the current financial climate.

"The 2024 profit distribution totals RM2.92 billion, and it will benefit over 9.54 million TH depositors," he added.

Mohd Na’im also credited the positive economic growth and stock market performance in 2024 as driving factors behind the strong investment returns, alongside ongoing efforts to manage operational costs efficiently.

The Minister highlighted that since its establishment, Tabung Haji has assisted over 1.5 million Muslims in performing the Hajj pilgrimage, in addition to providing financial support amounting to RM2.8 billion for the Hajj Financial Assistance Programme introduced in 2001.

Besides managing Hajj pilgrimages for the nation’s Muslims, Tabung Haji also invests depositors' savings through Shariah-compliant investments and handles zakat payments on behalf of the depositors. As in previous years, Tabung Haji has once again fulfilled its responsibility by paying zakat of RM99.35 million to the State Islamic Religious Councils on behalf of its depositors for 2024 at a rate of 2.5775%.

"With this zakat payment, we hope to contribute to the Government's ongoing efforts to eradicate poverty, aiming to eliminate hardcore poverty," said Mohd Na’im. He added that depositors are not required to pay zakat on their savings or profit distribution, as Tabung Haji has already fulfilled the obligation on their behalf.

To date, Mohd Na’im revealed that Tabung Haji has paid a total of RM1.47 billion in zakat on behalf of its depositors.

Deposit holders can check their profit distribution, which will be credited to their accounts on Sunday, 23 March 2025. The distribution can be accessed via the THiJARI platform, Tabung Haji counters, Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat, and the electronic banking channels of Tabung Haji's strategic banking partners, including Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat, Maybank Islamic, CIMB Islamic, and AmBank Islamic. – March 21, 2025
