THE Inland Revenue Board (HASiL) has launched a large-scale tax compliance campaign, *Op Tuah*, aimed at strengthening enforcement and taxpayer education across four states from 21 to 25 July.

The initiative involves 346 HASiL officers across Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, and Perlis and targets 1,829 cases for enforcement. It will focus on six key operational areas: auditing, collection, taxpayer verification, strategic compliance, legal proceedings, and the ‘e-Invoice Mini Jelajah’.

In a statement, HASiL’s Corporate Services Department said the operation covers a broad range of sectors, including construction, development, transport, advertising, real estate, engineering, wholesale, agriculture, medical clinics, e-waste, vaping, and professional services.

“The focus for the implementation of the five-day operation covers various industry sectors,” the statement noted, emphasising the strategic and targeted nature of the compliance effort.

In line with national digitalisation efforts, the *e-Invoice Mini Jelajah* component of the operation aims to raise awareness among taxpayers and improve readiness for the upcoming digital invoicing system. The initiative also supports HASiL’s longer-term vision for a tax system that is “efficient, transparent and responsive”.

The launch ceremony, held at Menara HASiL, was officiated by Datuk Hisham Rusli, Chief Executive Officer (Compliance), and attended by Tax Compliance Chief Officer Mohamad Fauzi Saat, Investigation Chief Officer Datuk Azhar Husin, and Melaka HASiL Director Mohd Shahriz Ramli.

Speaking at the event, Hisham underscored the board’s commitment to transparency and equity in tax administration. “The implementation of the operation showcases HASiL’s determination and capability across functions and ensures that the country’s tax ecosystem continues to remain transparent, fair and equitable.”

He added that Op Tuah reinforces HASiL’s commitment to improving Malaysia’s tax landscape and addressing non-compliance issues, in support of the nation’s broader goals for sustainable revenue generation and economic resilience. - July 21, 2025
