THE states of Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu have secured RM61.4 billion in approved investments involving 1,746 projects from 2021 to June 2026, highlighting the growing investment potential of Malaysia’s East Coast.

The approved projects are expected to create more than 30,000 employment opportunities, according to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the agency would continue intensifying efforts to promote investment opportunities in the region and facilitate the realisation of investors’ interests.

He said this was being pursued through the East Coast Investment Seminar 2026, held in Kuantan in strategic collaboration with the Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu state governments and more than 10 government agencies.

The seminar brought together more than 400 participants, including small and medium-sized enterprises, investors, industry players, financial institutions and government agencies.

Sikh Shamsul said the participation of investors, local companies and government agencies under one roof reflected a collective commitment to identifying and turning investment opportunities into viable projects while strengthening the East Coast’s industrial ecosystem.

“From 2021 to June 2026, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu recorded RM61.4 billion in approved investments, involving 1,746 projects expected to create more than 30,000 job opportunities.

“This demonstrates the wide range of investment potential and opportunities available to foreign and domestic investors in the East Coast,” he said in a statement.

MIDA said it would continue working closely with government agencies to promote investment opportunities in the East Coast, convert investor interest into actual investments and ensure the region’s development continues to contribute to national economic growth. - September 8, 2026
