LET’S be honest, this is probably not the first mooncake related content that you have stumbled upon.
But before you skip this list entirely, let us show you some uniquely mouthwatering mooncake (as well as inspired) selections you can sink your teeth into. Trust us, they are different from the yearly options you normally opt for.
1. Hypebakers
If black truffles and gooey salted egg doesn’t scream different, then we don’t know what else will. Hypebakers introduces to its customers a more premium satisfaction by offering their six finest truffles lava mooncakes in one purchase.
Each order is inclusive of 10g of fresh summer truffles to satisfy any sophisticated taste buds. Each gift box also comes with premium gold reusable cutleries. Aside from being the perfect care package to celebrate the season, we won’t be surprised if you end up ordering one for yourself, too.

2. Tatami
These super cute mini mooncakes from Tatami bakery and dessert house are too adorable to eat. It comes in the shape of an owl and a crab, sold in six pieces per box with three flavours (pandan lotus, green tea, and durian).
Since the mooncake is entirely handmade, it is best to note that the size and shape may slightly vary.
Customers are also given a complimentary packet of tea of a choice between pu'er, tieguanyin, black oolong or green tea. A blessing card is included as well, where you can write your blessings and some messages to your family, relatives and friends.

3. Hitori Daifuku
Don’t let the humble exterior of this humble mooncake option fool you. One bite will give you a fruity surprise that will leave you wanting more. The chewy texture of the Daifuku mooncakes is akin to mochi, a Japanese dessert that is super popular among local sweet tooths.
The sweet surprise in the centre comes in the form of high quality fresh Japanese premium strawberries coated with either Adzuku red bean, Nama chocolate or match white bean fillings.
Each ribbon gift box is priced at RM88 (excluding delivery fees) for four pieces where you can also include a personalised message to share with your loved ones.

4. Sweet & Savoury.Co
This homemade mooncake option is from the bakers at Sweet & Savoury.Co and it is giving us rainbow feels.
Shaped more like a ball of colourful clouds, it comes in pure lotus, red bean, pandan, black sesame, and pandan peel orange-red bean flavour. You can buy yours in a box of 4 pieces for RM48, or a box of 6 pieces for RM68.
Since mooncakes have become too commercial today, it’s nice to be given a handmade option that is not afraid to be a little different. For those who value sincerity, hard work, and effort in the baking process.

5. Chiffon and more
OK, this is not exactly a mooncake but if we are already breaking the rules of traditional options, why stop only at the shape? Besides, not everyone loves mooncakes so this would be the perfect gift for someone to still enjoy (it’s still cake!) the Mid-Autumn festivities.
Homebakers Chiffon and more relaunched their best-seller Mini Artisan chiffon cakes to celebrate the festival in a set called The Jade Rabbit Set, priced at RM85.
The set comes with matcha chiffon x grapes, earl grey chiffon x peach, strawberry chiffon x strawberry and lemon butterfly pea x blueberry. – The Vibes, September 20, 2021
