THE Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and Persatuan Pemuzik Malaysia (PPM) recently reached a landmark agreement when they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on their respective areas of cooperation.

MAH will introduce and promote PPM members to their respective hotels, as musicians who will uphold a high standard of professionalism in their craft.

PPM on its part has instituted a training programme where their members are taught the finer points of being brand ambassadors to promote their hotel venues, particularly to overseas tourists.

Both parties will showcase live local musicians on PPM’s hugely popular online live streaming shows, where viewership has skyrocketed due to the lockdowns.

Besides enjoying the live music performances on various social media channels, viewers will be kept updated on the latest events and promotions at member hotels, who will air these live streams simultaneously at their respective venues.

PPM president Francis Danker said the MoU was an iconic milestone as it meant better working conditions and job security for live circuit musicians. “Our live musicians are enthusiastically looking forward to perform at the hotels,” he said.

MAH CEO Yap Lip Seng was equally excited with the mutual cooperation, bridging the two industries, closer enabling more direct engagements benefiting both the industries and the musicians directly.

“This collaboration is a positive development for both parties and further strengthens the tourism and entertainment industries for the impending economic recovery,” he said. – The Vibes, October 14, 2021
