STREAMING entertainment service Netflix unveils the second main trailer for 'Hellbound', providing a glimpse into those surviving in a world of utter chaos and mayhem brought on by supernatural events beyond anyone’s imagination.
'Hellbound' is a Netflix series on supernatural events caused by otherworldly beings who appear out of nowhere to issue a decree and condemn individuals to hell. In turn, it causes mayhem and enables the religious group The New Truth to grow in power and clash with those trying to uncover the truth.
The released trailer captures the growing cracks between people in a world where unprecedented supernatural events bring about total mayhem. Unbelievable demonstrations of hell take place in the middle of Seoul right in front of crowds.
Mysterious beings condemn individuals to be hellbound, and otherworldly beings appear exactly at the specified time to take their lives. The world turns into utter chaos in just a flip of a second.
The New Truth rises to power claiming the supernatural events to be God’s warning against sinners and clashes with those who struggle to keep their righteousness. People stigmatised as sinners and the group of people who blindly idolise The New Truth fuel the chaos and fiercely collide with one another.
As Director Yeon Sang-ho says, “Hellbound is ultimately about people.”
The various groups of people depicted in Hellbound make it an amazingly immersive story. What makes the series even more intriguing is of course the stellar cast lineup of seasoned actors.
Yoo Ah-in stars as Jung Jinsu, ready to go all-in to prove his conviction. His charisma and mysteriousness add a layer of a strange ambience to the show. Kim Hyun-joo describes her role, lawyer Min Hyejin, as “someone who does believe in divine beings but decides to stand together with the people”, and keeps the show in balance with an unyielding spirit.
Park Jung-min portrays Bae Youngjae who strives to uncover the truth of the rising religious group in a dire attempt to protect his own family. He describes Bae Youngjae as “the one with the task of adding authenticity to the surreal worldview of Hellbound”.
Won Jin-ah who appears as Bae Youngjae’s wife, Song Sohyun, portrays how a person whose loved one is condemned to hell spirals into confusion and total agony, citing that “The explosion of complex inner conflicts and the accompanying feelings were where I focused the most.”
Yang Ik-june, playing the role of Jin Kyunghun, a police detective investigating demonstrations of hell, depicts both a father’s struggle to protect his beloved daughter from the chaos and his conviction as a policeman, adding yet more authenticity to the show.
Director Yeon wanted to portray “people who cannot deal with uncertainties in life and seek to uncover the reasons behind them,” and was backed by the stellar cast who have poured their hearts and soul into sketching their respective characters’ convictions.
The amazing cast whom director Yeon has highly acclaimed of will guide the viewers into a whole new world.
