ENTREPRENEUR and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim recently reached out to a disabled man in Kelantan.

Sim, who is the Bukit Mertajam Member of Parliament, said that he felt compelled to help because Che Suzeli Nik Munir's previous appeals fell on deaf ears.

Che Suzeli suffers from a mental condition of schizophrenia - a serious, chronic mental health condition that disrupts how a person thinks, feels, and behaves, causing them to lose touch with reality.

Sim felt touched after Che Suzeli wrote to him personally, saying the wheelchair is for his mother and him.

The family resides in Pasir Mas, Kelantan.

"The message for help came via an email," said Sim.

Initially, Sim’s service team tried to source aid from Kelantan to prevent the additional costs of shipment, but no party came forward.

After discussion, the service team decided to arrange to personally deliver the equipment to Che Suzeli.

Che Suzeli then snapped a photograph and shared it with the service team.

Sim stressed that help is accorded to anyone, irrespective of race and religion.

"We will try to help where we can," said the Penang DAP chairman. - October 24, 2026.
