THERE is no repudiating Datuk Adi Putra – the striking persona that needs no introduction – is one of the most popular actors this year.

HE appeared in three films alone in 2022, namely Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan (‘Mat Kilau: The Rise of a Warrior’), ‘Jerangkung Dalam Almari’ and Air Force the Movie: Selagi Bernyawa.

All these films were well received by local and foreign film audiences, especially Mat Kilau which managed to reach the highest grossing in Malaysian film history summing to a total of RM97 million.

In fact, this phenomenon sparked by Mat Kilau helped raised Adi to a higher stage as a distinguished actor.

His accomplishment was not limited to the silver screen.

This is the first time that Adi has been nominated for the Best Actor category since becoming a Malaysian citizen in 2018.

Adi will be up against three other famed actors, Datuk Rahim Razali (Spilt Gravy), Amerul Affendi (Prebet Sapu) and Haridhass Selvaraju (Moondram Athigharam: The Third Rule).

Previously, Adi, who originated from Singapore, was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor category through the film ‘Makrifat Cinta’ at the 30th Malaysian Film Festival back in 2019. – The Vibes, December 2, 2022
