South Korean actor Lee Jae Wook revealed that he originally planned to come to Malaysia a lot earlier, but his wishes had to be postponed due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Upon receiving the invitation to fly to Malaysia this year, Jae Wook admitted that he was excited to meet fans and researched the country on the Internet beforehand.
After this impromptu study, the 24-year-old feels that there are many similarities between Malaysia and South Korea in terms of landscape.
"I think Malaysia and Korea have a lot in common, especially in terms of the landscape and beauty offered in both countries. I hope to have time to explore it.
"Even in Korea there are many beautiful places that I didn't even know existed. I found out through the filming of dramas and movies that I acted in, such as a place called Mungyeong," he told Getaran, when met at the press conference for his appointment as Honorary Ambassador of the Korea Tourism Organisation, yesterday.
Excited to promote Korea as a world tourism hub, the star of Netflix's 'Alchemist of Souls' also shared his 'healing' place to escape from the hustle and bustle of Seoul.
“I personally like the Han river. It is very beautiful and has a different atmosphere at night and during the day. If you go there, try to go and feel the difference yourself.
"There are many activities you can do there such as eating ramen, or going on a date. I always go there by bike. You might meet me there," he said.
Jae Wook was chosen as an honorary tourism ambassador and is responsible for doing promotional work to attract as many visitors to the country as possible.
Malaysia was chosen as the first country for the 'Annyeong Kawan' campaign, after South Korea declared 2022 and 2023 as the years to visit the country.
