THE World of Tim Burton pop-up museum has attracted many fans and art enthusiasts since its opening in March.

They came from all across the Southeast Asian region to witness firsthand works by filmmaker and artist Tim Burton.

There are more than 500 original art of works including drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image works, and sculptural installations across 10 thematic sections.

The pop-up museum allowed visitors to resonate with the distinctive characters and worlds found in Burton’s art and films such as Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Beetlejuice, Frankenweenie, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Batman, Wednesday, and many more.

Recognising the potential of art to inspire, uplift, and empower young minds, Toybox Projects Sdn Bhd – organiser and presenter of The World of Tim Burton – wanted to make the show accessible to the underprivileged. By partnering with charitable organisations and reaching out to orphanages, the initiative opened doors to Burton’s enchanting universe.

Over 100 orphans across five orphanages including Tzu Chi Alternative Learning Centre, Rumah Chrestus Orphanage, and Good Samaritan were invited for an exclusive and immersive educational experience at the exhibition.

The visitors were provided carefully-curated guided tours, interactive art workshops, and special souvenirs tailored to engage the children's curiosity and creativity. Knowledgeable guides and educators shared captivating stories behind Burton's iconic works, encouraging the children to explore the world of art with fresh eyes.

Yuri Aizawa, president of Toybox Projects said, “Our hope is to create a memorable experience for these young souls, sparking their imaginations and encouraging them to explore the world of art and creativity.

"The World of Tim Burton Pop-Up Museum stands as a celebration of art's transformative power, and we are privileged to share this journey with these remarkable young minds. We are thrilled to announce that we extend this heartfelt invitation to the children from all orphanages, refugee centres, charitable organisations, and learning centres to come and explore The World of Tim Burton in Pavilion Bukit Jalil with us before it officially concludes on July 30.”

Since 2014, 'The World of Tim Burton' has been on a global tour, visiting various Asian countries, including Japan and Taiwan. Kuala Lumpur is the only stop for Southeast Asia and its final destination in Asia.

To invite all into the whimsical world of creativity, Toybox Projects is presenting an exclusive limited-time offer with a 50% discount on all tickets when purchasing two or more tickets, across any mix and category.

Cosplay enthusiasts can enter the exhibition at an exclusive rate of only RM20 when dressing up as Tim Burton characters, capturing photos outside the venue, and sharing them on social media while tagging Toybox Projects online.

The pop-up museum also welcomes school trip bookings through bulk purchases. For fans seeking unique merchandise, exclusive items not found during the opening such as special-edition posters, postcards, coasters, and t-shirts are up for sale at the venue.

Art enthusiasts and Tim Burton fans can get their hands on the limited-edition keychain featuring Tim Burton's original character, with global availability of only 500 pieces. There is also a Tim Burton curated ‘Kuala Lumpur’ drawing with 300 pieces made available for purchase only at the venue.

The World of Tim Burton was designed to be inclusive and family-friendly, with the venue being wheelchair accessible. Catch the exhibition before it bids farewell this Sunday. – The Vibes, July 24, 2023
