HINDU students and academic staff at all public higher education institutions (IPTA) are permitted to participate in teaching and learning (PdP) sessions via online or hybrid modes from November 5 to 13, in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration.
The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) stated that this arrangement applies to public universities, polytechnics, and community colleges.
The Ministry said this measure is intended to allow students and academic staff who are celebrating Deepavali on November 8 to return to their hometowns and spend time with their families.
“However, its implementation is subject to the suitability and requirements of the academic programs at each respective institution, ensuring that the teaching and learning process, as well as academic activities, proceed smoothly without disruption.
“This initiative reflects the MOHE’s concern for the well-being of the higher education community, while also celebrating the cultural and religious diversity that forms the foundation of harmony within Malaysia’s pluralistic society,” the statement read.
MOHE also extends its best wishes for Deepavali 2026 to all students, academic staff, ministry personnel, and the Hindu community in Malaysia.
“May this Festival of Lights bring a radiance of happiness, peace, and well-being to everyone. Deepavali Nal Valthukal,” it added. – October 30, 2026
