KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to launch the National Tahfiz Education Policy (DPTN) 2.0 at the 23K huffaz (memorisers of the Quran) gathering at the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Mosque today.
Programme adviser Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the three-day programme that kicked off yesterday aimed at reviving DPTN, adding that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will also attend the gathering.
He said this when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme last night.
On January 30, Zahid said DPTN 2.0 was scheduled to be launched on March 11, adding that through the policy, the government wants to make sure that the huffaz do not only work as imams, teachers or in the related fields; instead, it wants to create professional careers for them.
Khairuddin said the launch is important to show that the huffaz and national education cannot be separated.
Launched in 2016, he said it is time to revitalise and expand the policy.
He added that 23,000 huffaz from all over the country will gather at the mosque today to recite the Quran 1,000 times before the launch.
This fourth edition of the huffaz gathering is hosted by the Tahfiz Al-Quran Kebangsaan Institutions Association in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office. – Bernama, March 11, 2023
