SHAH ALAM – The Education Ministry will issue an official statement on the SPM 2023 sitting which is reported to have been brought forward to the beginning of December.
Seeking to quell concern about the matter, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry had not made any official statement with regard to this yet.
“Please wait for a detailed statement from us,” she said after launching the Education Development Plan 2013- 2025 here today.
There have been reports that SPM 2023 will start on December 5 in line with the ministry’s efforts to ensure the new school session starts in January like before.
The exam series is reportedly expected to begin with Ujian Amali Sains (practical science) on that date followed by the Speaking Test on January 8 next year.
As for the written test, it was reported that it is to be from January 30 to March 7.
For SPM 2022, students took the exams from January 30 till March 15.
On another matter, Fadhlina said the ministry was conducting an investigation into allegations that a student with disabilities was bullied by her teacher in school.
She said all parties, including the school concerned, had been identified.
“We will investigate according to the set procedures...the probe is underway and we will ensure it is thoroughly done,” she said.
It was reported that a female student under the Integrated Special Education Programme was bullied by a female teacher till she was traumatised. – The Vibes, August 22, 2023
