PETALING JAYA - The Mawar Medical Centre (MMC) in Seremban has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Medical University (IMU) for the training of medical students, dietetics, nursing, psychology and medical information technology students.
Centre chairman, Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock said they have been working closely with the education sector in the training and supply of healthcare personnel, be they at professional, or support levels.
"Adding IMU to this list of collaborators is indeed great news.
"IMU is certainly lifting its profile higher by offering medical and health science programmes to add to its growing and extensive list. Once again, IMU has proven itself in striving to be a premier University, aspiring to achieve excellence as enshrined in its vision," he said during the MoU signing at the IMU Bukit Jalil Campus, near here.
MMC is a well-known Private Community Hospital in Seremban and was previously known as Mawar Hemodialysis Centre. It has benefited numerous patients with kidney disease in more than 25 years since its establishment.
"The challenge now is to improve the clinical outcomes while controlling costs. Addressing this challenge will require dramatic improvements in the processes by which care is delivered to patients and the successful adoption of transformative technologies.
"In MMC, we have successfully implemented a Hospital Information System effective April 1, 2023, which has optimised the workflow, providing better interaction with patients, reduced costs and advanced communication with medical staff. It also provides better, more personalised healthcare services, easier access to personal health records, and more convenient appointment scheduling," said Lee.
He said they were also investing in state-of-the-art medical equipment, which includes a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, an Angiography System, the latest laparoscopic equipment, an Endoanal Ultrasound system and others.
"We are also proud to announce that we are the first private hospital in the whole Negeri Sembilan to possess a Fibroscan machine and Endoscopic Ultrasound System to provide one-stop comprehensive gastroenterology & hepatology services for patients," he added.
Meanwhile, Professor Gerard George, who is IMU's Group Managing Director, said the university is in its 32nd year and has about 4,500 students now.
"We are looking to have more than 8,000 students, which is about double the size now by 2028 and a second campus, which will be located close to the existing one.
