KUALA LUMPUR – The two-week total lockdown to contain Covid-19 took effect at midnight last night.
Most economic sectors are ordered shut, with only essential ones given the nod to operate.
A survey of Kuala Lumpur, a city that is usually bustling with people, showed it to be almost deserted. However, food delivery riders and cleaning crews were among those spotted.
In Selangor, there were similar scenes in the high-density areas of Kajang, with most businesses closed in line with the government’s standard operating procedures.
Checks in Petaling Jaya found police conducting monitoring at many premises in the district. Patrols were conducted by officers led by district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.
