THE National Heart Centre or Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) will mark World Heart Day 2025 with a week-long event themed “It’s Not Just a Game – It’s About Your Heart” at The Curve.

Running from 24 to 28 September, 10am to 10pm daily, the free public event aims to raise heart health awareness through engaging and accessible activities for all ages.

Heart disease remains a leading cause of death in Malaysia, and IJN’s initiative targets families and youth to promote prevention through lifestyle changes.

The program includes free heart screenings such as ECG and ECHO, live CPR demonstrations, and interactive fitness challenges including K-Pop Zumba, the Capteh Challenge, and Red Light Green Light games.

The Wholesome Meal Challenge is a highlight, inviting home chefs to prepare nutritious, budget-friendly meals costing under RM50 within 90 minutes.

Children can explore a heart-themed corner offering educational games that emphasize cardiovascular health.

Attendees can also join daily quizzes with chances to win health-related prizes from partners like Blackmores, Nestlé Omega Plus, Adabi, Ogawa, and Kitchen Shop.

An IJN spokesperson said, “Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in Malaysia. Through this event, we aim to create awareness in a positive and approachable way, especially for families and young people.”

The IJN team added, “Whether you're getting your first ECG or trying K-Pop Zumba for the first time, this event is about making heart health accessible to all.”

World Heart Day, celebrated globally each September, highlights cardiovascular health and prevention. IJN’s celebration reflects Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to tackling non-communicable diseases through public education and engagement.
