HE had just received his graduation scroll and was still in his convocation gown - but that did not stop medical graduate Muhammad Husni Abu Bakar from rushing to the aid of an elderly lady who collapsed outside the hall.

In a post on the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Facebook, it said the medical graduate from their Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) immediately helped administer emergency aid to the woman.

"His quick response to assess the victim's condition using basic emergency ABC principles, helping to facilitate breathing and managing the surrounding area attracted attention.

"Staying calm and using the clinical knowledge he had learned, he assessed the victim's pulse, response level and respiratory condition before the family took the woman to the hospital for further treatment."

Muhammad Husni also advised the public not to panic in emergency situations, but instead to do basic checks and seek help from skilled individuals.

Now undergoing medical graduate training at Hospital Seri Manjung, Perak, Muhammad Husni's interest in the medical field began in Form Three and grew stronger after losing his father to COVID-19.

"His story on convocation day not only highlights his calmness and concern as a medical graduate, but also illustrates the spirit of a young doctor who wants to make a difference in the lives of others." - December 2, 2025
