HOLIDAY Inn & Suites Penang Prai, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, has secured three nominations at the Asian Tourism & Hospitality Awards 2025–2026, marking a notable early milestone following its official opening on 3 March 2026.
The property, which comprises 332 guest rooms and suites, has been shortlisted for Leading New Hotel of the Year 2025.
Its General Manager Nick Ng has also been nominated for Leading Hotel General Manager of the Year 2025, while the hotel itself is in contention for Leading Business Events Destination 2025.
Strategically located near the Prai Industrial Zone and within convenient reach of Penang International Airport, the hotel has rapidly positioned itself as a key accommodation hub for corporate travellers and leisure guests alike, supporting business activity across northern Peninsular Malaysia.
The hotel offers a range of facilities including all-day dining, a lobby lounge, outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and a dedicated yoga space.
It also features more than 2,066 square metres of meeting and event facilities, including a pillarless grand ballroom equipped with drive-in vehicle access, designed for large-scale conferences, exhibitions and high-impact corporate functions.
Ng said the recognition reflects the collective effort behind the hotel’s early development and operational culture.
“These nominations are a meaningful recognition of what we have built together as a team,” he added.
“Every milestone has come from consistent effort on the ground, strong collaboration with our owners and partners, and the trust of our guests. I’m proud of the culture we’ve shaped and deeply grateful to be part of this journey, as we continue to create moments that matter most.”
Ng is widely noted for a hands-on leadership approach, maintaining an active presence across daily hotel operations and engaging directly with guests and staff to uphold service standards and operational discipline.
In its first year of operations, the hotel has hosted a broad range of events, including government functions, corporate engagements, law enforcement-related programmes, conferences and large-scale annual dinners.
This growing portfolio has strengthened its positioning within Malaysia’s competitive business events sector.
The combination of strategic location, versatile event infrastructure and early market traction has contributed to its nomination as a leading business events destination, underscoring its expanding footprint in the regional hospitality landscape. - April 20, 2026
