Syed Saddiq, Bella Astillah marry in white-themed ceremony at Merdeka 118

The Muar MP, 34, and the 32-year-old singer-actress exchanged vows in a ceremony attended by political leaders, celebrities and about 300 family members and close friends

MUAR MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer-actress Bella Astillah were married at Merdeka 118 today, exchanging vows in a ceremony attended by political leaders, celebrities and close friends.

The couple were married at 10.41am by former Federal Territories mufti Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri, who represented the bride’s father, Awang Astillah Dullah.

Bella, 32, whose full name is Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah, received a dowry of RM500.

The ceremony, held on the tower’s 118th floor, featured seven trays of gifts from the groom’s side and nine from the bride’s.

The wedding followed an all-white theme incorporating Arab and Islamic elements, at the families’ request. Bella wore a white modern robe and headscarf, while Syed Saddiq, 34, donned traditional Arab-style attire designed by Zaimi Zulkafli.

Syed Saddiq entered the hall accompanied by his mother, Sharifah Mahani Syed Abdul Aziz, and father, Syed Abdul Rahman. Bella was escorted by her mother, Siti Zarina Roslan.

The ceremony, hosted by Radin Affendy and Uyaina Arshad and broadcast live by Astro, drew several entertainment personalities, including Nabil Ahmad and his wife Zira Ayub, Azad Jasmin, Datuk Ziela Jalil and former Rembau MP and broadcaster Khairy Jamaluddin.

Political figures attending included former prime ministers Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, both accompanied by their wives, as well as Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The couple reportedly first met in 2025 and became engaged on March 28 this year before announcing Oct 10 as their wedding date.

They will hold a reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 18, followed by public celebrations under the name Kenduri Rakyat in Muar, Johor, on Oct 25 and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Oct 31.

The couple are known to fans by the combined nickname “BASS”. - October 10, 2026
