WEDNESDAY last week, S. Pavithra – of the husband and wife team behind the Sugu Pavithra Youtube cooking channel – changed the name of her Facebook page.

Previously named Pavithra Resepi, it was changed to Hangat Resepi, causing fans of the couple to raise some questions.

Her husband, Sugu had on Monday of that week, gotten off a three-year good behaviour bond of RM8,000 after pleading guilty at the Ipoh Sessions Court to possessing an offensive weapon.

In July of last year, Sugu was arrested as he held a sickle outside the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Jalan Raja Ashman Shah, Ipoh. He was reportedly looking for his brother-in-law due to a family dispute.

The episode cast a pall over what had been a feel-good story from the first movement control order (MCO). The couple had risen to fame, earning hundreds of thousands of subscribers to their channel.

Folks all over fell in love with the couple’s friendly homestyle cooking videos filmed in their home kitchen.

After the initial controversy, 98 videos from the YouTube channel were deleted, and although their channel still has around 811,000 subscribers, there has not been a new video in three months. – The Vibes, January 18, 2021
