KUALA LUMPUR – The recent 'Debat Perdana' between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which aired on the Awesome TV platform on Thursday, May 12, successfully recorded a total of 1 million views.

Aired live for almost two hours from the Auditorium, the Malaysia Tourism Information Complex (Matic) at 9pm, it was broadcast exclusively on Astro Channel 123 and MyTV 112.

The historic debate programme between the former prime minister and the PKR president who is also the Opposition leader saw the open 'first clash' between the two figures. However, it took place peacefully and without provocation.

It was attended by about 400 people including political figures, corporate members, economists, academics, students as well as supporters of the two leaders.

The debate session consisted of three parts, the first part on the problems faced by the oil and gas company, Sapura Energy Bhd (SEB), the second part revolved around the 'Future of Malaysia' which covers economic, political, governance and national direction and the third part is dedicated to a question and answer session.

Awesome TV chief executive officer Datuk Adam Ilyas said: “We are very excited to be given the opportunity to be a part of this historic event, which is amplified when people choose to watch this inaugural session on Awesome TV.

"The success of recording as many as a million views indirectly proves that viewers accept Awesome TV as one of the main information channels of choice.

"This number also indicates that Malaysians accept this more mature and open political approach."

He added that Awesome TV through its published news platform, Berita 7.57, will continue to bring the latest news and daily reports that are transparent, informative and close to the people, without taking sides.

"In keeping with the slogan 'People Are Our Priority,' each display of information provided is tailored to the people and serves as a means of gaining access to fair, transparent, and equitable reporting," Adam said.

"'Debat Perdana' is one of the finest examples of programmes that viewers want to watch. And we at Awesome TV will ensure that there will be more of such programmes broadcasted on our platform in the future.” – The Vibes, May 16, 2022
