KUALA LUMPUR – New York Fashion Week is scheduled to be held in Malaysia at Wyndham Acmar Klang Hotel on February 24-25 next year in conjunction with Miss Plus World Malaysia Grand Finale Gala.

It is one of New York Fashion Week’s most prestigious events and the world's most popular fashion show that presents a series of couture and luxury fashion shows in New York City, Cannes, Paris and other selected cities.

Among the highlights of the New York Fashion Week Grand Gala are the Red Carpet, National Costume, Exclusive Fashion Shows, Music Performances, Short Film Screening, Coronation and Awards.

New York Fashion Week Grand Gala is organised by Miss Plus World Malaysia (MPWM) in partnership with Couture Fashion Week New York (CFW).

The objectives are to promote body positivity and sustainability through fashion and beauty. It also seeks to bring an iconic international platform to Malaysia to turn it into a hub for top-class fashion in Southeast Asia.

It's also a chance for Malaysian and Southeast Asia fashion designers, models and filmmakers to reach the international level.

Award-winning designer Andres Aquino will present his latest collections such as “Glamour Rush” at the New York Fashion Week & Grand Gala.

Founded in 2005 by the producer and entrepreneur, CFW presents a series of couture fashion and luxury shows multiple times each year in New York City and other selected cities.

Shows include fashion shows by exceptional designers from around the globe, performances by world-class entertainers, luxury exhibits of art, accessories and other products, VIP dinners and related events.

“Our other major event is the Global Short Film Awards Gala and Luxury Fashion Shows held annually in Cannes, France, concurrent with the Cannes Film Festival,” said Aquino in a statement.

Aquino is a New York-based entrepreneur, award-winning fashion designer, writer, event producer, and global high-tech and luxury product marketer.

Aquino is also the founder and director of the annual Global Short Film Awards, a competition attracting exceptional films from more than 80 countries, culminating with a black-tie awards gala in Cannes, France scheduled to coincide with the Cannes Film Festival.

Aquino and his representative in Malaysia Andrew Jackson, on February 7 this year signed a partnership memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Miss Plus World Malaysia and Media Path Ent to organise the international event New York Fashion Week and Grand Gala in Malaysia every year.

The best model and best fashion designer and best short film will be selected and given a free ticket to participate in NYFW in USA and Cannes in Paris.

MPWM national director Ziin Britshi said the New York Fashion Week will be hosted in Malaysia for the first time, in conjunction with our Miss Plus World Malaysia's Finale Gala.

“This is a great milestone and benchmark for MPWM to bring this world-class iconic fashion show to Malaysia and give great opportunities to local models and fashion designers to participate and win tickets to go to represent their country in New York Fashion Week, USA and also in Cannes, Paris,” he said.

According to Jackson, the event will see top Malaysian and Asian fashion designers participating.

“Malaysia will definitely become the hub for top fashion shows by hosting this iconic NYFW in the country,” he said.

Models, fashion designers and short filmmakers interested to join the event can now apply.

Models can apply at this link: https://missplusworldmalaysia.com/models-casting-form/. The model casting will take place from December 6 to 10. The deadline for registration is December 30.
