COMMUNICATIONS and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil wants stronger action to be taken against incidents of violence and extremism, which he described as becoming increasingly worrisome.
“Several recent incidents seem to require us to examine whether deep intervention is necessary,” he said, referring to the recent stabbing of an e-hailing driver by a 13-year-old boy, in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Fahmi said the realisation of the aspirations of Malaysia Madani is key in building the national identity that has been sought for since independence.
"The national unity agenda needs to be supported and embraced by all parties because the Unity Government wants values of mutual respect and a focus on justice to be enshrined in efforts to develop Malaysia Madani,” he said.
He said the National Unity Policy aims to encourage inter-community relationships to develop mutual understanding between various groups of people.
Fahmi urged all parties to continue to nurture unity and harmony as set out in the Rukun Negara, which is key to racial harmony and national stability.
