FOLLOWING the recent sacking of Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Isham Jalil, a former warlord said the party will continue to remain in self-denial and sink further.

Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Umno will remain trapped in its president’s (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) games and protect what belongs to him and his staunch supporters.

“Due to his (Zahid) arrogant attitude, Umno has drifted further away from the Malays and keeps ignoring the signs from the community,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said while PAS consistently upholds the principles of modesty, openness, prioritising agreements and the Islamic struggle, Zahid’s leadership continues to drag Umno down.

Annuar, who was also sacked from Umno in the aftermath of last year’s general election for indiscipline, said instead of listening to the clear signs, Umno was more keen on doubling its efforts to sell the pro-liberalist, pluralist and socialist DAP narratives.

“The statement by PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man that ‘Umno can remain bootlicking and kissing up’ to DAP is accurate.

“Umno led by Zahid is the biggest success of DAP and PKR, who will once and for all bury the party altogether,” he said.

Annuar, who was also recently named a central PAS committee member, said instead of wasting time with Zahid, PAS, Perikatan Nasional (PN) and civil society groups with similar struggles should focus on strengthening their grassroots.

“We can fill the void left behind by Umno, which was evident during the recent Kemaman by-election.

“Barisan Nasional has been replaced by PN and Umno by PAS. It is time for us to move forward and fulfil the aspirations of the people.

“We need to ignore those who embrace kleptocracy, kakistocracy, manipulation, and pluralist or liberalist politics,” he added. – The Vibes, December 7, 2023
