FIVE food delivery riders were jointly charged at the Bandar Baru Bangi magistrate's court with the murder of a motorist in Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2 on Feb 21.
According to reports in the New Straits Times, the accused were Syamsul Qamar Ayob, 40, Mahazir Nordin, 43, Azharul Azuan Mohd Azan, 34, Tengku Izham Tengku Hamid, 22 and Mohd Yuree Ranoff Mohd Bachuri, 41.
No plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
All the accused nodded after the charge was read before Magistrate Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi.
The five allegedly committed an offence leading to the death of Shahril Samad, a self-employed man at Jalan TPS 2/3 Taman Pelangi, Semenyih, at 9.54pm on Feb 20.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years with not less than 12 strokes, if found guilty.
No bail was granted.
The court fixed April 25 for submission of the chemical and post-mortem examination reports.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Liyana Mohd Sulaiman prosecuted while lawyer Mohd Hafiz represented all the five accused.
