A PROTON saleswoman who recently found fame for preparing some items for her Indian clients to be used for a blessing ceremony when they pick up their new car has now been asked to “repent”.

Many netizens rose to rebut these critics, hailing her conduct and gesture as demonstrating sincere kindness in the true spirit of her faith.

Recently, Nazirah Hasan, (@eiraproton) a Proton saleswoman in Kulim since 2009, posted on X how she had cut up a coconut and some lime for her Indian clients when they arrived at the Proton dealership in Kulim, Kedah to get their cars.

“For the Indian customers,” she captioned the video.

Her clients were delighted with the extra effort taken by Nazirah as the items were used as part of their ritual to cleanse and protect their car from any negative energy.

She even did the same for her Chinese clients by providing them with a full pineapple for good luck.

Following reports of her efforts, several people took to the comments section and claimed that Nazirah’s actions were a sin and that she was committing “syirik”.

Some internet users even called on her to quickly repent and that she should be “Muslim first, not Malaysian first”.

Another said Nazirah had “crossed the line” and that she should never practise another’s religion and that it was “syirik”.

“Is there no other salesperson who is non-Muslim who can help?” asked another netizen.

Despite the brickbats, a few netizens took a different stand and supported Nazirah’s efforts in keeping her customers happy.

Some said her actions were fine as she did not participate in any rituals and only helped by supplying what was needed.

“The pineapple (for Chinese clients) is nothing religious ... it is purely for ONG (good luck),” said one netizen.

Another user said Nazirah was a true Malaysian and praised her for respecting all races.

Those who had previously dealt with Nazirah also described her as an amazing salesperson with admirable public relations skills.

“Regardless of what you all are saying, she is an amazing salesperson,” said a netizen. – The Vibes, March 10, 2024
