THE POKOK Sena Umno Youth division stands behind its national chief Dr Akmal Saleh who was questioned by police over his role in the controversial KK Mart issue.

The party Youth movement stands firmly behind Akmal and the national leadership, said the division head Mohd Farhan Ahmad.

"I urge all members of Umno Youth in 191 divisions to stand firm behind him," said Farhan.

"Indeed, we must respect the legal process, but the due process of Akmal being investigated must also be accepted by those who want him arrested and charged," said Farhan.

Akmal's aims are based on the party constitution which places Islam, Malays, and nationhood as the basis of the struggle.

"I also request that social activists such as Siti Kasim review or read the Umno constitution before criticising Akmal’s stance."

Not a single member of Umno Youth has committed any wrongdoing as far as Farhan is concerned.

"The community can judge and see that the leadership of Umno Youth in every division has conducted many societal and religious activities during the month of Ramadan."

Not one was involved in any alleged racial incidents or crimes against KK Mart - the convenience supermart which displayed the socks.

"I plead with the Government to not only consider the concerns of the non-Muslims but they must also consider the concerns of the Muslim majority, Farhan said in a statement. - The Vibes, April 6, 2024
