A BERSATU leader today hit out at the recent controversy over a shoe logo that is said to resemble the Arabic script for the word “Allah”.
“This is getting ridiculous and makes Islam look very petty and bad. This is the problem when there are Muslims who do not understand the Fiqh principle of Amr Ma'ruf wa Nahy 'an al-Munkar (Commanding Right and Forbidding Wrong),” said Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
In a post on X, he said Perikatan Nasional needs to do better to dispel myths and assuage unfounded fears among the non-Malays.
“We need to focus more on issues that are important to nation-building and unity,” he said.
Wan Fayhsal, who is also the Machang MP, said anything evil that needs to be prevented must be clear in terms of wrongdoing.
“Like the case of the socks with the word Allah written on them at KK Mart, it is clearly evil, but in the case of Vern brand shoes, it does not indicate a Shara' fault (not against Islamic law).
“We as Muslims cannot think paranoidly in all matters that are considered challenging to Islam. Our actions must be based on knowledge, not reckless emotions,” he stressed.
Wan Fayhsal also said the media needs to stop reporting on silly news like this for the sake of viral readership.
“Islam is not a religion for stupid people,” he added. – The Vibes, April 8, 2024
